At the narrow southern end of Siesta Key, you’ll find the popular spot known as Turtle Beach offering more than a half mile of gulf coast paradise. The water is just as clean and clear as a few miles north while the sand tends to be a bit coarser then the white quartz powdery sand in Crescent Beach and Siesta Key Beach. With that comes the opportunity to find great shells and shark teeth.
Turtle Beach offers a host of great amenities to make your outing comfortable and fun:
- Rest rooms
- Volleyball courts & horseshoe pits
- A playground for the little ones
- Picnic areas
Additionally, Turtle Beach is home to a boat ramp perfect for small boats and kayaks as it launches into a lagoon on the east side of the beach that feeds out to Little Sarasota Bay.
Turtle Beach Camping
Also not to be overlooked is the opportunity to go camping and the only campground located on Siesta Key Beach just steps to the gulf is aptly named Turtle Beach Campground which is directly next to Turtle Beach. Pitch a tent, bring your camper or drive in with your RV – the campground offers full hookups, laundry facilities, and WiFi and it is run by Sarasota County.
